Typical 4-wheeler magazine article. All they need is the 99%-naked Mexican girl draped over the hood. Why does everybody with a shop and too much money think that it's good to put a classic body an a new chassis? They talk about going back in time, but what happened to appreciating an entire machine that speaks about the age (and the usage) for which it was built?

I would argue that, if you had to choose, a PW or WC chassis, with a modern body dropped onto it, is more of a "time machine" than the reverse. Want to experience 1942? You don't get air bags. You probably don't get seat belts. If you hit something you get a bloody mouthful of teeth. So drive slow and pay attention. You don't get audio, security, or climate control systems. When it comes to "systems", you are it. There is no radio, and you couldn't hear it if there was. You don't get to go 70 mph uphill towing your boat, and stop on a dime. You get to see the world at convoy speed -- 30 mph. If the engine runs rough, there are no codes to pull. The brakes, steering and transmission are operated by muscle power. If muscle power was good enough to move the control surfaces of a B17, it's good enough for a truck.

Don't like it? Fine, put any kind of body you want on a new truck if that's how you get your jollies, but shut up about the whole "time machine" garbage. Otherwise, it's like putting your grandpa's coveralls on some pasty-faced slacker video punk hanging out at the shopping mall, and pretending you've got your grandpa back.
