Interesting paint found on my 46 Power Wagon

While cleaning the front fuel tank angle iron mount (the one between the frame rails). I discovered the part was originally Army Green!

Most of the paint is still there, as once I cleaned off all the black tar like coating, the paint was clean and with out a primer or other paint under it.

I wonder if it was a left over WC part that Dodge (or supplier) had on the shelves and just coated it and used in?
