Just by looking at the treads I would reach underneath and check the pins that come in contact with the drive sprocket.You can turn them once, but look at the fit where the pins meet the sprocket. If the sprocket is worn the tips of the sprocket teeth will be sharp and pointed and knife like.
You may want to pay a heavy equipment wrench and have him to look at the final drives and the machine in general.
To me the fact that it has recent engine work tells me it was worn out so the rest of the machine maybe worn also and the paint job will be eye wash that will keep you from the mechanicals on the machine.
I will buy equipment that shows even wear on the whole machine.
