HAHA! He was real lucky. I suppose that could happen. Those were commuter trains so they were running real fast. Maybe even 100mph.

Theres nothing in our rules that say an inspector cant look around a switch like he did. He cant do anything to the track or switch unless he has track authority from the dispatcher and at that time there would be no trains coming thru there.

There are some times where our welders are welding and grinding on frogs and they can do that but they must have a look out standing right there keeping and eye on the tracks. They will also usually issue a track speed restriction which would require the trains coming to slow down.
