Your guess is as good as mine about what PTO fits on what. I have picked up a few over the years, when they were cheap or free, that looked like they ought to fit something I have, but nothing ever did. I know you've gone down that road a lot farther than I have. Even though the mounting bolt patter are SAE standard, there are all kinds of combinations of gears -- located in various positions, beveled one way or the other or not at all, and so on. I haven't made any sense of it.

All I really want on this M37 is a working front winch for emergency use getting unstuck from the snow. I do not have a spare M37 PTO, so I guess I will take the existing one apart and see if I can make its output come out the front instead of the back. The stuff with the 2-output box in the rear can wait for another day. I am going to check and see if the T-case brake drum is driven when the T-case is in neutral. If so, that's my rear PTO. If not, I'll just take the gearbox off and save it for another project. I have a spare M35 transfer case PTO, and I could probably find something to use this gearbox for on an M35 if I was ambitious. The main thing for now is to get that front winch working so I can go way up into the hills and not worry about getting stuck.

We don't have any snow yet in town, but there's 2 or 3 feet up in the hills now. It's getting pretty cold -- only up to 20 degrees at noon downtown today, and a harder freeze is forecast for next week.
