As you said, aluminum is HIGHLY sesitive to contaminents. That is why when welding with aluminum wire they say you should put in a brand new liner. Once you run your mild steel wire through it, it's trash for anymore aluminum work.
I bought my Miller 250X with thoughts of s=getting a spool gun but never did. Ended up getting a Syncrowave 250 as well and haven't looked back.
About time for Franz to tell me how wrong I am ;)
