IAT intake air temp. sensor
To clarify Jill's post a bit, the check engine light has never come on during this situation. When the truck was hooked up to a regular code scanner it showed no faults. A data logging chip was installed on the truck and it showed 20+ failures of the IAT sensor. Hopefully it isn't some random electrical problem.
