I go along with Chris on the mig but be sure to buy one that will use gas in the process. Flux core wire will leave a mess. Jump around while welding short spots and if you do use a sponge keep an eye on shrinking to much as you go. As with any welding practice, practice, practice before trying it on your prized possesion. Watch the grinding too as it will cause warpage as much as the welding. When it comes to using filler use a waterproof fiberglass first like DuraGlass to help keep out the water. I use Z Grip to finish the repair.
