The Cummins weighs north of 1200 lbs. It was deemed too heavy for the specific performance of the Power Wagon.
It was considered and the V-8 Cummins would have most likely been used, had the Cummins Dodge agreement for the V-8 and V-6 engines not been a victim of the bankruptcy.
All Ram Trucks are built in North America. The 1500's take up all assembly capacity in Michigan, Cummins powered Rams are assembled at Saltillo.
Before the bankruptcy, all Ram Assembly was going to be moved to Michigan and St. Louis, with the re-skinned Ram for Nissan built at Saltillo, however that agreement died in the bankruptcy and St. Louis was closed.
Saltillo has the highest productivity in the Chrysler system and was expanded to build the HD Ram 3500, 4500 and 5500.
