Obviously this has nothing to do with cougars, but in the last 2 years in north Idaho, the snow fall has been exceptionally high. The deer, elk, and moose kills on the railroad have also been exceptionally high. The Idaho F&G figured over 100 moose kills alone between Sandpoint and the Canadian border, less than 100 miles. They didn't even count deer and elk.
Yes, cougars will stalk and kill animals, including people. Their place in the system, along with wolves and coyotes, has also been modified adversely by mankind's expansion in all directions. JH
