I was in the grocery store yesterday and a young fellow who works there asked me how the deer hunt went > i told him i was lucky shot the only two i saw > he said ,he and dad didnt see any deer > but said they saw a cougar one evening out in their back field > on the way way home in the power wagon i started to think the deer numbers have really dropped off substancialy in the last two years here > used to be when the rut was on and i went for my a m coffe there was generally a deer car collision every day in the 7 mile stretch to town > so i called the local body shop owner and asked him he said his best time is october to early january for collisions with deer > his work has been off 80 pecerent this year > so there has been a dramatic reduction in deer here > since there are people on this site hwo live in bonified cougar country is this normal that they feed on deer > our provincial goverment denies that they exist but people are having sightings of these critters > i did start to think that i while i was out this year i didnt see any squrrels or partridge and not one rabbit track > The kid at the store wants to hunt the one down on his farm but i couldnt advise him if thats a legal thing todo but if any one here has any dealings with these cougars i would i like to here abit more of your findings and what they actually do to wildlife numbers thanks in advance ~ Copey
