I've had too many friends die of cancer to believe any simple thing like that. Plenty of them ate real good too. One was totally macrobiotic, one lived up in the hills and grew all his own food. Others just plain ate really healthy diets. I'll easily believe a bad diet causes heart disease, obesity, diabetes, etc, but not cancer. It's easy to think it's one simple thing when you're healthy, when all that's really saving you is good luck.

As for people not getting cancer in the good old days, think about how cancer is diagnosed -- X-rays, MRIs, PET scans, CAT scans, exploratory surgery, and fancy blood tests. Until about 30 years ago, all they had were X-rays and exploratory surgery. Neither of them was much good for detecting cancer until it was too late. 100 years ago, they didn't even do exploratory surgery because the surgery would kill you for sure. What did happen to people in the olden days was they just wasted away and the doctors didn't know what the cause was. Cancers rarely show on the surface. Maybe they'd put it down to "old age", but most of the time they just said he "took ill", his health began to decline and he died.

I'm glad you're growing your own food, and I'm sure it'll keep you healthier longer than factory food, but I don't for a minute believe that a vegetarian diet will "cure most cancers".
