Many of the same components are used on the various engines. Head, cam and manifolds are the major variants.Since a rebuilder would rebuild engines for stock, they removed the numbers so as not to confuse the ultimate customer. That way he won't be disgusted to learn that he has a Plymouth car block to put into his trucks, when the blocks are the same.

That number pad looks to have been ground off by a hand held grinder, as I would expect the rebuilder to do.
