OK when a fuel pump is bad it will either leak gas or stop pumping enought fuel. It cant work and then stop working. You need to check fuel psi at the carb, 3 to 5 pounds. Or check the inlet side of the pump for vacumm, 6 to 7 inches. Make sure you fuel flow from the tank is OK. Check rubber hoses, connections, junk in gas tank and or rust. Good luck. Bill. PS a electric fuel pump will not work.
