these engnies are desinged to run 3200 rpms all day. I try to keep it just under that for exteneded periods maybe 2800 to 3000 aftrer all is warmed up. The crank shafts are VERY heavy and if you exceed 3200 for extended periods the oil film on the bearinngs starts to shrink.
