One day this past week, I had an incident in my shop that put me in a "no mercy" mood. I was loading up my shelves with newly formed parts, when the shelf tore loose from the wall and spilled hundreds of LH & RH parts all over the floor. As I was down on my hands and Knees picking up the parts and separating them, I looked around and said to myself "God. this place is a mess", and I began to clean things up. Material of every size & shape, old tooling & tools that I haven't used in years, and probably never will again, and just a general array of "stuff" that I was saving in case I might need it "someday"! So far I've brought 1740 lbs. of scrap steel to the recycling yard, and a couple more trips scheduled for next week! The result is amazing - I actually have room to walk safely around the shop now, without fear of tripping over something and having a serious (or fatal) fall! I promised myself that there would be no "regrets", as I've been stashing this stuff for decades, thinking I will use it for something, someday. Well, guess what? I haven't used an ounce of this material for at least 25 yrs.! So, what better thing to do but recycle it! It makes me wonder how much "stuff" we all have stashed in our shops/garages, and how much valuable space we could possibly free up. Dave Maher
