I think the major point of going to centered components is to go straight through the TC, much more than equal axles being unbreakable. Straight through the tc is less vibration and slightly more efficient, though you still turn all those gears.

I did shim my tc at the mounts. All drive shafts angles were allover the map. Adding four fender washers to umm the front mounting bolts at the cross member brought all six angles into line. Everything looked factory straight before, I don't know if they are off kilter from the factory. Sure does run quiet and smmooooth now.
