Well all the manuals show the same part # for both the non and syncro NP420 trans C4 model that was the first to use the NP420 and the M37. I bought one and it is the same as the one used in my after-type tranny pto. The M601 would have used the same pto shaft. The number VPW provided does not cross to the Military number, all the others do.
