I speculate one reason for the 2 axles was to support the massive weight of those beasts. you know no weight cutting measures came in to play on a vehcile like that. EVery time I see them though I think of a famous clip of Hitler walking around one of them stuck in the mud! He doesn'tlook happy either. HAHA. Dodge kicked his ass.
