... out of a gas can directly. If it works, then you know you have a blocked fuel line. These pumps will suck fuel very well. If not, then the pump has a problem. Do not assume that a brand new pump works: I have had problems with them right out of the box. One had a bad check valve, and would not work at all. This is asmong the reasons why I eventually gave up and went to electric.
