Glen, I had a rebuilt engine that wouldn't seat the rings. I pinched the water supply way back, brought the temp up just below the high mark and used 2 tablespoons of Bon Ami, not Comet or A-Jax. A little at a time with fast idle and the rings seated in about 10 minutes. Good luck, Dan H
