Now please keep in mind that I did this 27 years ago when I was young - I put a (dare I say) 292 Chevrolet in my PW. Yes I boxed the firewall. I also put in the syncro trans from a 71 GMC. The setup worked great with lots of low end creeping torque. I can't complain about the engine. It was used, had a slight knock at idle when I put it in, and I got 16 years out of it before it died. I have another one waiting to go in. But I may put the 230 back - I still have it and all the pieces.
