There were at least three companies that converted Ford tractors to 4-wheel-drive using surplus WWII 1/2-ton Dodge axle assemblies. I know some local owners, and have pointed them to VPW, where they have found the parts they need.
As far as I know, these axle assemblies were NOT cut down. The removable cover is a dead giveaway that it is a 1/2-ton assembly and not out of a Power-Wagon.
