just pulled the motor out of my wdx, any warnings?

yesterday i pulled the motor and tranny out of my wdz, and bou they didn't skimp on cotter pins back then. when i take my motor to the machine shop, should i have them do anything special to this motor. i remember reading somewhere that it would be a good idea to cut a groove into the main bearings for improved oiling. can anyone help with this or any other improvements that are needed.
