I have actually bought an item (not a PW) from an old gentleman for far less than its true value.

I informed him that it was worth more than I could pay for it, and that he should sell it to someone with more money.

He told me that money, despite being on a fixed income, was not his motivation. He knew my love of collecting this certain item, and knew of the care I took of them. He was afraid of someone else getting their hands on it and not appreciating it. The item was a piece of his personal history that he hoped would last for a long time after he was gone.

Yes, I did buy it, for the amount he asked for, and yes, he was fully informed of its value. And yes, he is long gone and his treasured object is still in my safe, lovingly cared for and polished and used.

I don't know what the situation is in this case, but I believe that each day we are tested by God to see how we meet the challenges of life. Am I perfect? Nope. Far from it. Still, I try. As for others, well, each must find their own path in life and act according to what they feel in their hearts.

BTW, someone mentioned the Karma thing - what goes around comes around. Not that I'm a devote Bible thumper, which I most certainly am not, but the Bible states it this way - Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
