I did one on an 03 a couple of years ago. I didn't remove the entire dash. (1) drain coolant (2)discharge A/C ( 3) Put emergency brake on & put trans into low to get more clearance to dash. (4) disconnect battery (5)Drop the steering column to the seat (6) remove the A-pillar trim (7)Gain access to the bolts on the end of the dash, remove the ones that hold it up. The other two are pivot points leave those in. (8)remove the upper dash pad/speaker grill to get to the screws at the windshield. When you remove these the dash will now pivot downwards. Lift it up and towards the seats. I left the entire dash in the truck, all of the wire connections on the LH side were still connected. The passenger side of the dash swung over onto the passenger seat after reaching over the top of the dash to unplug a couple of connectors. I used a piece of 2x4 that held the dash back from the firewall to give me room to work. Looking back a motorcycle tie down around the dash & up to the passenger seat head rest would be a better way to go. That way the right side of the dash would be held up & back at the same time. (9)by now a/c is discharged so disconnect the lines at the fire wall (10) remove the heater hoses and the couple of nuts that hold the HVAC housing from the engine side of the firewall. Also loosen up the rubber evaporator drain tube so that it doesn’t tear by pressing it in with your fingers. (10) back inside remove the final fasters hat hold in the HVAC case. Now you can slide it out the passenger door under the hanging dash..don’t forget your shoe horn. (11) Next you follow instructions in Paul’s post. Now your halfway done! When I did this one it took right at 5 hours start to finish no breaks, no pity party & in a shop environment with all of the right equipment. Side note, the aftermarket core I bought needed the tubes tweaked to fit & required some die grinder work on the plastic HVAC housing to fit. I called the parts store to verify that it was the correct #…needless to say I would recommend a Mopar replacement part.
