Franz, when I look at pics of escutcheon pins, they look like the fasteners for the windlace, like little nails.
After looking on line, I think Kevin is right, the fasteners for the data plates are technically small semi-tubular, or hollow rivets.
Another question, what are the fasteners called that appear to be like a semi-tubular rivet, except the head and base is "hollow", and you can see through them. This is the fastener I have in my vintage Dodge tail lights when I took them apart, and need to find in order to reassemble so I can bolt through this central cavity.
