I have done it. use lots of talc or baby powder though. the tube runs a little stretched and the flexing sidewalls of the radial tire can cause tube failure even if running a radial tube. They let the new guy mount up one of mine and he did not know about the talc on tubes. went flat a week later. He got schooled good by the manager. ;/)
