John: I think I understand that you attempting to fab a jig to hold the rear diff centre section and the tubes in alignment. I beleive that you are going to cut the tubes ends and reweld them back on the opposite centre section side. I was thinking of doing the same thing to may extra M37 rear housing so I could make a centered rear housing for my power wagon. The tube ends are only round out near the spring perches (need to be removed) so I thought about putting the whole axle housing into a friends lathe and lightly cutting the tube OD to make a true round surface. You would then need to machine a tube spigot assembly to insert into each end of the housing and into each tube section. If the machining is true the alignment should be close but with the tube OD's machined you could set up the housing into a vee block style jig to allow you to rotate it and check the tube alignment all the way out to the spindles. With some careful welding you should be ok. The centered rear housing axle shafts are both the same length ( 36 15/64") so just be sure to measure all your parts many times and then assemble. Good luck keep us in touch to see how you made out. Terry
