The attached image is from a very early parts manual. They did not quite have the whole system finalized when the photo was taken, but your linkage should work on the same concept.

The part you have your spring attached to, should not have the spring attached to it. That part should be roatated 180 degrees around its pivot point so that it points up instead of down. The hole where you have your spring attached is for the hand throttle control to mount to. The hand throttle control shown in the image is a very early cable type. Yours should be a 1/4" rod, coming through the fire wall, with the end threaded into a ball joint. The ball joint mounts to the hole where you now have your spring mounted. The part in the image is obviously shaped a little differently and is smaller than the part you have becaue of its use with a cable. It is also correct that you do not have the L shaped bracket mounted to the intake manifold that the cable clamps to. So, you do not need the hex screw threaded into the manifold. This hole does tap into the bore of the runner.

The spring indead does attach to the oblong part. In the image, they lopcated the oblong part on the linkage closer to the firewall. Where yours is located is correct for your truck.

The return spring actually attaches to a long mounting bolt that threads through the floor pan. Run a jamb nut up against the spring hook to keep it attached to the bolt. I would not attach your spring to the bell crank as you have shown. The rotating bell crank will eventually wear through the spring. You will know when this happens as you pull up to a stop sign and your engine runs continuously at full throttle. This spring is the only thing that causes the throttle plate to close. The internal governor spring is going to hold the throttle wide open without it.

I do not know what you have plumbed into the intake manifold with the heater hose attached to the pipe "elbow" and the "T". If you are trying to tap into vacuum, this is not the place to do it. The hardware from the "T" donward and back to the engine block is part of the Positive Cranckcase Ventilation system. If you need vacuum, it should be drawn from one of the two pipe plugged ports shown in your images right above the throttle linkage on the intake manifold.

Hope this helps.
