I remember when finally met John face to face after we spoke on the phone for over a year or so. One day in 2001 I received a phone call that he found a 48 and I asked him for a photo and he said if you want it you must come and see it. So I put together a truck, trailer combo and drove out there. Wow was that along ride across Pa.I had never thought I would ever get there but when I did I was greeted by a warm hearted man. We talked about trucks ,his old trucks and his truck scouting trips. I felt very sad when I learned of his passing. I will always think of him every time I look at my 48. I some times think of he and I in his town going to the hardware store or get some lunch or dinner. People in town knew him and always waved. I went to my first chain saw wood carving show with him. Each time I stopped by to see him I never wanted to leave.
He was a true American Who loved Dodges and his IH Tractor. He always respected the working man. I never met any like him since the first day we spoke on the phone.I will truly miss him and what he stood for THE AMERICAN WORKING MAN. God Blessed John and us for knowing him. Rich Ely
