King Bee Marble Reflectors

Does anyone have experience repairing or restoring King Bee or similar reflectors? I have been acquiring used red and amber units to use on my P.W. dump body...thought it would be a unique touch. I've found that some are very less relective than others. Also, in a few only about 50% of the marbles reflect brightly. I thought that possibly internal rust might be the culprit. Grinding the outer edge would allow separation of the front and back, but I'm hesitant in doing this if nothing would be achieved. Painting is another issue. I thought of carefully applying grease to the marbles. Any, and all, suggestions will be welcomed
