Yes less sidewall. A good rule of thumb is a 50/50 ratio.
In other words, a 40" tire should be on a wheel that is close to 20", 35's on a 17", etc. etc..
The sidewall is a major part of the suspension and once you start bouncing, you've lost both traction and stability, especially on a side-hill.
Some guys run lead shot, or (the old tractor trick) water inside their tires, but that just adds to the unsprung weight and I'm not entirely sold on it.
That is really a simplification as there are many, many, variables such as spring frequency, vehicle weight, Vehicle Cone Index, etc., etc.
I've noted this in the past, as I have watched several of Roger's videos and it just jumped out at this crusty old suspension guy.
