Ed, make sure the acc pump is working the way its supposed to. if that is working right make sure the vaccum advance is working. they are very seldom at fault, But, when they are it's hard to find, but it will cause what you describe, make sure the points are set right. when the engine speeds up it changes the timing of the engine, if there is a leak in the diapham it will not advance to make up for the loss in vaccum, hence the hesitation. I'm assuming that the engine is running alright at other rpm ranges,(ie) idle,thru the gears, and so on and so on. having said this its's probably the acc pump. check the pump while the engine is running to make sure it squirts enough fuel. good luck, Dave.
