I woudl blast them, prime with PPG, MP-170 Epoxy, then top coat within 72 hours with PPG MOA Hardened Chassis Black. The resulting finish is a satin black....not gloss.
When Betts Spring in San Leandro made my custom springs for my Carryall, I asked about lube between the leafs (teflon strips). Betts Spring refuses to do any kind of lube between the leafs, except on cars and ambulances. They said the springs would be so slippery they could over extend and break.
I went with their design...no lube. My Carryall rides great.
