Must have been a lot of grease on that parking brake. Maybe you did it good to burn some of it off. Reminds me of one of my first trips in my M35 with a trailer, all well loaded. Was going about 50 on highway 2 when a light turned red on me at the bottom of a hill. I hit the brakes hard and when she stopped I was in the middle of a big cloud of smoke. Thought something awful had happened, but everything was fine. Just burned off some of the oil that must have leaked onto the linings over the years. No flames, fortunately.
