Here is a note I got from Dave, so I pose the question to someone more knowledgeable.
I don't know much about the Budd wheels. I have not taken one apart. I have a 68 W300 Crew Cab
but I can't tell by looking and my 64 TWPW didn't come with the stock split rims.

Grant,
I just saw your picture of the W500 poster on the forum. Beautiful job, as is all your work! Your attention to detail is amazing.
I know you like accuracy, and along these lines I noticed something on the spec sheet next to the illustration that I wondered about.
On this spec sheet, you say for the wheels Budd split rim. If this size wheel is similar in design to other Budd wheels, like on the one ton power wagons, they were actually split ring, not split rim. The split ring wheels were solid wheels except for the outside bead which is the split ring. Several people have stated that these were more safe than the multi-piece split rim wheels on other types of vehicles. These multi piece split rims are considered to be especially dangerous.
I am not a W500 expert, and could be mistaken, but there are those on the forum with them that could validate my thoughts if you desire.

Thanks, G
Any other corrections are most welcome!
