... and it is interesting that they do share some parts on common with their military "toploader" cousins. From my recent efforts to find parts for mine, it appears that the FDS75 (aka FDS750) used on the W500 evolved from the old split axles used on WWII CCKW trucks.
I concur on the screw positioning issue, and also on the sealant issue, but I did not bother with it since my truck will most likely not be seeing water immersion here in Arizona.
