Powder Coat is a quick way for manufactures to get a good looking coating on their product. The problem is that it appears so many dont employ as you say "industrial quality powdercoat process". Their process is cheap and quick and does not stand up.

My question is.....how do you know the company doing powder coat for you will do it right ? You wont know until you start getting failures or it holds up well for years. And if you get a poor job as on the Buckstop Bumpers, cross bed tool boxes etc, its costly and time consuming to strip and paint. Buckstop front and rear bumpers cost me almost $2500. For that price they should do a quality powder coating as they know their bumpers are totally exposed to the elements and take a beating up front. You can go to a good shop with a good reputation and if the worker doing the coating is slack, you still get a poor job.

Maybe its just me, but with my past experiences with Powder Coat, I will stick to a good Epoxy foundation and top coat with a product that is known to stand the test.
