That can be the case. When I used to do a lot of 4-wheeling years ago, I always carried three flanged axle shafts with me that I had welded tabs on to hook chains to. When there were not trees close enough, I would drive the axles into the ground in a triangle pattern, chain them all together, and use the whole as a dead man. When you 4-wheel alone, you learn to be prepared.

As far as needing the whole 250 feet of cable on a Power-Wagon, that has happened for other jobs, like hinging and lowering a 40 foot tall windmill to the ground and erecting it back up on our property.
