So, I'm to be impoverished for the greater good?

Confisc-atory tax levels?

No thanks.

At some point it all becomes self defeating. Witness the unemployment levels in Europe. They are generally stated to be around 11-12% but most economists believe they are understated by several points.

And among those countries that have nationalized health care and are touted as examples the U.S. should emulate - Canada, United Kingdom, France and Italy to name a few, their systems are under so much strain that they will have to severely curtail the scope of services offered in the next couple of years.

The problem in developed nations is an quickly aging population that, demands via the ballot box, ever-increasing levels of benefits.

Social Security is a transfer of wealth from the younger generation, that transfer accelerated with the advent of Medicare and Medicaid. Now with the proposed government-run healthcare that trend of generational theft wil accelerate.

The younger generation that will have to foot the bill increasingly does not resemble the older generations they will have to support.

This trend does not bode well for the long-term societal stability of this nation.
