I'm thinking my best bet for fixing the cowl vent area on my M43 would be to swap in a section from a parts M37. I'm not a body man and I'd rather not get into cutting out and welding in a flat piece where all the warping will show, but it looks like the cowl sheet metal is one piece that runs from about 6" down each side of the body tub, and from the hood gutter back to the dash. My question is whether swapping this whole piece is easier than just cutting out the immediate area around the cowl vent. I'm thinking it depends on how the seams are made -- whether they're spot welds, continuous welds, crimped, or whatever. I figure somebody must have done this and can tell me how much work I'd be into and where it would need to be cut.
