Recently on this forum a gentleman had a bad financial deal ,and brought to mind a project that I had come up short on . Two years ago this past June a few of my friends and I were sitting on my porch enjoying a few beers. This red suv comes down the drive way and out pops this tall well built red head . So I pipe up to my cronies, she’s probably lost . Well the guys are off the porch like a pack a hounds to see what this red head needs . Much to their disappointment she was asking for me ! I told the guys to back down and give lady some room to breath ,geeze ,like they never saw a woman before . she introduces her self as Montana . She asks if I am copey and I was hesitant at first , who knows could be getting “served” again for some stunt .I fess up to being who she is looking for ,her reply was that she bought the old Flemming farm and needed some one to bush hog the place and the nbr across from her said I could do it . I thought for a minute , and said I will come down take a look . Next day I head over and the place is truly over run weeds every where . So I give her a price so much a hour and about 4 weeks to do it and she would have to buy the fuel .She agreed . I figured it out that I could trade my old bush hog in and get a newer and larger one , this job would be a plus , plus . I traded my old machine and put out another twelve hundred for the new one ,and started the next day . The first week all went well ,then second week not to bad ,but she didn’t show with any fuel , so filled from home . I finished up the entire job .I knock on her door and ask for my money , she didn’t say a word she just closed the door in my face .I was a little stunned ,and thought that’s not the way to break into a new nbrhood, so went home a little hot and lot discouraged . I am out just about six grand on this not counting the upgrade on the new machine .Speaking to the law ,they ask what I had in writing, I said I have not put a deal in writing in thirty years ,all ways done business on a hand shake and on peoples word . So I took my lumps , I wish the nbrs would have forgotten about it as much as I have ,I get a lot of ribbing over that one ! I just let it go ,lesson learned . This morning I was in the drug store getting some bandages for my broken finger before I head up to cut on a seventy acre cedar wood lot and guess who is in the line up ahead of me. Yup its her, I just said good morining and she jumped back two feet , like she saw the devil himself she leaves . So I jump in the power wagon to fill my cans and grab some oil and she is at the gas station , then I am returning a video and she’s there too . Some coincidence that I would run into her after two plus years , three times in one day .Every time she saw me I knew that she knew that she owed me and it showed in her face . They way I figure that was payment enough , in full ~ Copey
