1966 W200 Dodge Power Wagon Crew Cab $7,500 [CA]

I am the second owner of this vehicle - I bought it at an Air Force auction at Norton AFB, San Bernardino, CA in 1975. It is a crew cab 4 X 4 with the "Slant 6" 225 CU Inch engine. It has a four speed transmission - with a "granny" square-cut low gear. The VIN plate says it is a W200 - but the power train and suspension are all WAY beefier than that. I have replaced U-Joints a couple of times and they are about twice the size of the ones listed for the W200. Likewise the axle and bearing size. The springs easily support 5,000 lbs in the bed. The truck was used by the Air Force to supply machine gun ammunition to helicopters in the training grounds in the California Deserts. I suspect they ordered the heavier drive train and suspension system to support a cargo bed full of 50 Caliber ammo and several airman to lug the stuff around. The bed was badly oil soaked when I bought it - I replaced it with aluminum deck plate.

It has been continuously registered and insured since I bought it. It runs well - does 70 mph on the freeway - on the level - it's a bit challenged speedwise on long hills - but it has NEVER gotten stuck. I bought it for a pit / tow vehicle for off road racing and it got me through all the nasty places in Baja, Nevada and Arizona for three seasons of racing. The cab and seats are huge.

At this point, I no longer drive it often - I hire gardeners now - no more trips to the dump. My days of taking out driveways and carting the old one away are likewise gone by the wayside. So it's time to sell it to someone who will enjoy it for more years. It is no longer required to have smog inspections in CA.

As you can tell from the pictures, it needs paint - although the color showing is mostly undercoater and not rust. Where there is a bit of rust, it is only surface. The upholstery is sun damaged and there is no carpet or floor mat. Mechanically it is good. The brakes need topping off on fluid once in a while - but work fine. Tires are not Air Force stock - but are nearly new. I will include a hydraulic ram with power supply and reservoir to convert it to a dump truck if the new owner wants it. I intended to do so - but life intervened. The ram extends 56 inches in four stepped size cylinders - 4" down to about 2".

Please let me know if I should send any other information. Pictures attached.

I will set the price - at least initially - at $7,500 - Will Call in Highland CA
