I don't recall any color but yellow on the bed.
I found a for sale sign in the door on disassembly. I called the number, it worked and low and behold I found the original owner.
He told me his uncle bought it at a electric co-op auction in wash. state in the early 80's. It was always some kind of yellow as long as he can remember.
Was it a fleet truck? I remember seeing a couple of pictures of trucks, in somebody's collection out west with the spot light mounted in the center of the roof like mine was.
If it was black, I would have repainted it black. Black looks great.
