I can probably answer the locked up question. Mine did that when a piece of syncronizer got wedged in the idler for the PTO and locked it down. Yours perhaps has same or similar problem. The syncronizers are aluminum or magnizum or some such light weight soft metal. Because you have to shift entirely different shift points. In my case I suspect a previous owner forced shifts defunking the syncronizers. I pulled PTO unit gaining access retieved parts might add on a trail ride drove it another six months finessing the shifts. Till finally one day the trans stayed in second and the shift lever locked down in third. Limped it home soon as I pulled the top cover aligned every thing back up and everything freed. But the gear spacing was all goofed up missing syncronizers. I ordered a rebuild kit for the 435 out west and rebuilt it. It was very easy. Dixie Drive Line wanted 800 to rebuld. I would rebuildem day in day out for $800 ez money. Full Kit was around $150.00. What you have may be rebuildable those syncronizer pieces were mostly in chunks probably. The trans gears inside are very tough doubt there is damage there. Ive had mine on road 5 yrs since rebuild with no more problems both PTO's work fine shifts good. All I can say is its a piece of cake. Perhaps you should take a look inside your gearbox.
