As the Water Pump Pulley has the groves rearward of the pulley mounting flange, I doubt the number of groves is the issue.
Are you sure you switched to the short shaft Water Pump (lower inlet on the drivers side), or shortened the front of the stock unit accordingly?
Also if there is a slip clutch or fixed spacer between the fan and the pump, be sure to remove it as well.
