Without being able to put my eyes on your install, I am not sure what is going on.

When I dropped the 318 in my Bumblebee back in 2000, I used the helitool 318 kit with the 2 side engine mounts. I used the 318 hydraulic bell house. I used a stock 318 water pump with a short shaft. I used a stock NP-435 transmission with the original intermediate propeller shaft. Everything fit, Plug and Play.....no mods of any type were needed to make her fit and play. The part that confuses me is that your intermediate shaft is to long ? And if the engine was set back, making the intermediate shaft to long, then the water pump/fan should have lots of radiator clearance ??

I do run pusher electric fans on my Cummins B3.9 installs. We dont see the heat you do, but I rarely see my electric fan run while I am driving at speed. However, diesels do run cooler than gas'ers.
