The guy I bought the truck from was an ironworker/hay farmer. He added the winch after he bought it from some farmer in Kansas. He still had the original bed but it was pretty beat and had a ton of weeds growing around it. I don't know where the winch came from but boy does that thing work good.
When it came to describing the truck, I just want people to be realistic in their expectations. Yes it can certainly be driven as is, I do it quite often but as we all know about unrestored Power Wagons can always be improved one dollar at a time. I still can't get over the sense of loss I have felt this week but the succesful business people that I consult with say that although it is a tough decision, for now it is the right one. I think the reason this has been so tough for me is that I wanted one for so long, got it and then put some heart and soul (and money) to get it resurrected. Now after four short years I have to let it go. I should think rationally and say it is just a material object, but that would be unfair to ignore the history of a truck who's bloodline was forged on deadly battlefields. The same history that was forged in coal mines, oil fields, farms and an array of other industries. Perhaps it is hard to let go because it is a symbol of something that was created by men who knew what they were doing. Whatever the reason, there will never be another Power Wagon like my first one. Sorry for the ramble but it is stuck in my head. Even my wife has hinted that I should keep it and upgrade it to make it more useful. A great idea but unfortunately not an affordable one at this time. Thanks for those who listen and understand.
