Hey Tom, is it summer yet at your place?

When I compiled the list "CARbureTERs Used on Power-Wagon L-head Engines" for Phil's t137 site (http://www.t137.com/ClintDixon/carburetors.htm), I sourced 19 different manuals and pieces of literature and listed all of these at the bottom of the page.

For Phil's list "6-volt Electric Auto-Lite Equipment for Civilian Power-Wagons" (http://www.t137.com/ClintDixon/autolitecrossref.htm), I sourced 17 different manuals and pieces of literature with all listed at the bottom of that page.

For Phil's list "Dodge Power-Wagon Oil Seals Models: WDX-WM300" (http://www.t137.com/ClintDixon/Seals/Seals.htm), I sourced 13 different pieces of literature, again all listed on the page.

These projects were very aggravating as I found that it was common for different printed sources to disagree. Where they did not agree, and two or more answers were possible, I went with the answer that was supported the most. When the manuals were split equally and no answer was apparent, I left the information out rather than create confusion.

I rely heavily on manuals to find information that I need, or in order to help someone else. But, I would have to say that I have little faith in finding the correct information in any given manual without cross-referencing others to verify.

If we are learning something new here that not all Power-Wagons were factory equipped with PCV systems, that is outstanding information, but if that is the case, then we are also learning that manuals can be trusted only so far. After all, they are only as good as the people who wrote them. Authors are not typically the engineers working on the designs and sometimes information gets lost in the translation.
